Don't miss out on the first J.P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson Bobblehead featuring the musician whose hit song “Chantilly Lace” was released six months before he tragically died in a plane crash along with fellow musicians Ritchie Valens and Buddy Holly on February 3rd, 1959, in Clear Lake, Iowa.

Don McLean wrote one of the most recognizable songs of all time with his 1971 hit “American Pie” to reflect on the loss of an early rock and roll generation that day in February. Through his lyrics, the song remembers “The Day the Music Died.” Born Jiles Perry “J.P.” Richardson Jr. on October 24th, 1930, in Sabine Pass, Texas, Richardson acquired his nickname “The Big Bopper” while working as a disc jockey at KTRM radio (now KZZB) in Beaumont, Texas. Richardson had seen college students doing a dance called The Bop, and the former football player decided to call himself “The Big Bopper.
