St. John’s captured the outright Big East Conference regular season championship with a 71-61 victory over Seton Hall on Saturday, March 1st at Madison Square Garden when Coach Pitino sported the all-white suit. The same suit also garnered national attention when it first appeared during St. John’s white out game against Creighton in February.
Coach Pitino is the only coach to win a national championship at two different schools (Kentucky and Louisville) and the first coach to lead three different schools (Providence, Kentucky and Louisville) to the Final Four. With St. John's trip to the 2025 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, Pitino has now taken six different schools to the NCAA Tournament: Boston University, Providence, Kentucky, Louisville, Iona, and St. John’s.
