This bobblehead celebrates the Rice vs. Houston Football Rivalry and features Sammy the Owl from Rice and Shasta from Houston with a replica of the Bayou Bucket Trophy. The Bayou Bucket Classic was first played in 1971 when Houston joined the now-defunct Southwest Conference. Prior to that matchup, the teams previously met in a 1946 scrimmage in Houston’s inaugural season. The football rivalry is the longest running competition between the two schools. While the Southwest Conference no longer exists, the teams still play as non-conference foes. It is officially licensed by Rice University and the University of Houston.
